Brian Kithinji
Executive Director
Brian Kithinji is the Founder and Executive Director of Policy Action Initiative, with extensive experience in policy analysis and journalism. Prior to joining PAI, Brian worked for CNBC Africa and AfriCatalyst, highlighting the inequalities, resilience, and innovations in the continent. In 2019, he was the only African journalist selected for the Poynter-Koch Media Fellowship in Washington, D.C. Brian is also a fellow of the African Presidential Leadership Program-Egypt, the YALI RLC East Africa, and previously served as the Deputy EAC Youth Ambassador to Kenya. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Mass Communication from the Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology.
Bradley Sikolia
Program Coordinator
Bradley Sikolia is a multimedia journalist based in Nairobi, Kenya. He is a graduate of the Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT) and is well-versed in print and broadcast media, photography, and creative writing. Sikolia has worked for various mainstream media outlets in Kenya, including The Standard, and has reported on various topics including Crime and Justice, Education, and Entertainment. He is a passionate advocate for Environmental Conservation and Climate Change.
Elijah Bakari
Head of Research and Operations
Elijah Bakari is the Head of Research and Operations at Policy Action Initiative. He is also a Computer Engineering graduate from Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology, and an accomplished human intelligence consultant with experience in training on various issues in human intelligence such as relationship science, academic approaches, emotional intelligence, and management environment for universities, schools and corporates. Before joining PAI, Elijah worked in the Human Rights Division of Amnesty International. He is also a multi-award-winning communication professional having bagged awards in competition as a trainer and adjudicator across Africa.
Carolyne Nyokabi
Director of Communications
Carolyne Nyokabi's dedication to environmental conservation is truly inspiring. As the Director of Communications at Policy Action Initiative, she seamlessly blends her extensive experience in journalism, resource mobilization, and HR practice to lead transformative initiatives. Carolyne's passion is evident in her commitment to amplifying creative solutions for environmental challenges. Her strategic mindset has played a crucial role in assisting non-governmental organizations in developing concrete strategies for positive change. Beyond her role at Policy Action Initiative, Carolyne is a valued analyst at Research Beeline, showcasing her analytical prowess. Her enthusiasm for humanitarian causes is exemplified through her active involvement in volunteering. A proud Bachelor of Media graduate from the Mount Kenya University, Carolyne Nyokabi embodies the ethos of Policy Action Initiative, driving impactful change with passion and expertise.
Simeon Oleku
Outreach Officer
Simeon Oleku is a passionate and dedicated young enthusiast for development and change in his indigenous local community. His journey towards this role was shaped by the challenging environment in which he grew up in, where the harsh reality of recurring drought disasters tested the community’s resilience. As a child from a large family raised by a single mother, Simeon witnessed firsthand the injustices and inequalities that women face in our society, and these experiences ignited a burning desire to advance women empowerment and gender equality in the society. Simeon is a proud alumnus of the Nairobi Summer School on Climate Justice, where he gained invaluable insights into advocacy. He is also winding up his Bachelor’s Degree in Community Resource Management at Kenyatta University.
Loraine Kabaka
Director of Partnerships
Loraine Kabaka is an experienced microbiologist with vast experience of working for international organizations to enhance women participation in STEM. She currently heads the resource mobilization docket at Policy Action Initiative, playing a crucial role in bringing on board the organizations’ partners. While working under the United Nations Volunteer, she led an expert group in the implementation of a United Nations Volunteer project on establishment of urban gardens in Bamenda, Cameroon. Loraine is a former Coalition Wild mentee, Ambassador for the Green Leone Organization, and has been selected for the Bio fabricate Summit and COP27 in 2022, Global Landscapes Forum, Nairobi Summer School on Climate Justice, and Africa Climate Summit in 2023. She is currently completing her master's in environmental microbiology at Kenyatta University.
